Supreme Court Finds Fraud “Permeates” Petition of Insurgent Greg Williams, Removing Him From Ballot

SCGOP Chairman Garcia: Matter Being Referred to District Attorney

RIVERHEAD, NY – Supreme Court Justice Jerry Garguilo today issued a decision finding that the Republican designating petitions of Legislative candidate Greg Williams were “permeated with fraud”and invalidated the documents, thereby removing him from the ballot.

The court found that petitions which contained the signature of the candidate’s wife, Karen A. Williams, could not have been witnessed by Mrs. Williams, as revealed by the testimony of those who had signed the petitions. “Clearly, the evidence adduced establishes that Mrs. Williams, the ‘witness’ . . . was not in a position to witness the actual act of signing,” the decision reads.

The decision further established that “...Gregory L. Williams was ‘inextricably intertwined in the petitioning process,’ and was chargeable with the knowledge of the fraudulent manner in which certain signatures were procured.”

“This is a victory for the people of the First Legislative District, and for the integrity of our electoral process,” said Suffolk County Republican Chairman Jesse Garcia.  “After being rejected by the voters of Southold two years ago, the courts have now found that Greg Williams has engaged in fraud in a desperate, self-interested attempt to run for office.  It reeks of the same self-interest displayed by George Santos.  The people of Suffolk County deserve better, and Mr. Williams has very clearly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve in public office.”

Garcia stated that lawyers representing the party will be referring the matter to the Suffolk County District Attorney.

“I’m committed to not only protecting the electoral process in Suffolk County, but to never permitting an insurgent to bring the National Democrat party's tactics of cheating in elections to interfere with fair and proper elections,” added Chairman Garcia
