Statement from Senator Anthony Palumbo and Assemblyman Doug Smith, Commissioners on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority

New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo (R,C-New Suffolk) and New York State Assemblyman Doug Smith (R,C-5th District), who serve as Commissioners on the Commission on the Future of the Long Island Power Authority, today issued the following joint statement:

“We are deeply troubled by the disturbing and sexually inappropriate behavior exhibited by an outside consultant during a recent video conference call. The consultant's behavior is completely unacceptable and has no place in any professional setting. We want to make it clear that the consultant was immediately dismissed from any work involved with the commission.

“We are committed to working on behalf of all Long Islanders to create a future power utility that is more affordable, accountable, and reliable. We will not let this incident distract us from our important work. We will continue to work diligently to ensure that Long Islanders have access to a power utility that meets their needs and expectations.”
