And Esteban Makes 11! Manuel Esteban of the 16th District to Become the 11th Member of the Incoming GOP Legislative Class for 2022

YAPHANK, NY - Suffolk GOP Chairman Jesse Garcia congratulated Legislator-elect Manuel Esteban today in his victory over his incumbent Democratic opponent after Esteban reached the mathematical threshold during the recount of paper ballots at the Suffolk Board of Elections. The results ensure that Esteban has earned the majority of votes cast in the race, making him the eleventh Republican who will sit in the majority on the legislative horseshoe in January, joining newly legislators-elect Stephanie Bontempi in LD18 and Dominick Thorne in LD7. Suffolk Republican Chairman Jesse Garcia expressed optimism that Brendan Sweeney in the Sixth Legislative District would also be victorious following his recount.

“Manny Esteban fought a tireless campaign against an incumbent that was no longer serving the interests of the residents she represented. Today makes official what we saw after the closing of the polls last Tuesday night – that Suffolk voters want the common sense, positive change that this Republican team offered,” said Chairman Garcia. “As an attorney, Manny will be a key partner in the legislature for new Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney to make our neighborhoods safer, better protect our residents and reject the radical policies of the Democratic party that called for the defunding of our police and putting criminals back on the street through changes to New York bail laws.”

Suffolk Republicans saw historic gains on Election Night, ousting an incumbent Democratic District Attorney, Presiding Officer and Democratic Majority leader. The GOP ran on a platform of protecting taxpayers and middle class families, making our neighborhoods safer, and restoring long term fiscal health to Suffolk County.

“This new Republican majority has a strong background of community service and private business, bringing a common sense approach to government to deliver the services our residents need and deserve,” said Garcia. “Together, they will rebuild our infrastructure, put our county on strong fiscal footing and improve our economy for our small businesses and families.”

Esteban will represent the 16th Legislative District and will be sworn into office with the rest of the Republican Majority on January 1, 2022.

“I once again want to thank my partners, Huntington Town GOP Leader Tom McNally, along with Conservative Party county and town Chairs, Mike Torres and Frank Tinari, for their support in securing this critical victory.”
