Newsday False Reporting Working Families Party

Statement From Suffolk County Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garcia:

NEWSFLASH: Newsday and the Democrats Get It Wrong—Again. Suffolk GOP Chairman Calls on Readers to CANCEL Newsday Subscriptions

“Once again, Newsday has proven it’s nothing more than a biased arm of the failed Suffolk and Huntington Democrat organizations — churning out sloppy, politically motivated clickbait instead of factual journalism.

“This is the same Newsday that published a disgusting cartoon mocking the political assassination of Charlie Kirk back on September 13th. Their credibility has long been in question, and this latest piece confirms it: Newsday is nothing more than a biased arm of the Democrat Party on Long Island.

“We called on Long Islanders to cancel their Newsday subscriptions beforeand today, we’re doing it again. Newsday’s kind of one-sided, incomplete reporting isn’t journalism. It’s propaganda. It’s a threat to our region, to fair elections, and to the truth.

“Their November 8th alleged story was not only incomplete — it was flat-out wrong. In their rush to bolster the losing efforts of the Democrats, Newsday published a false narrative about the Working Families Party candidate Maria Delgado, claiming she was a “former Republican.” That’s an outright lie — and a simple review of the public record proves it.

“If Newsday had waited for the results of their own Freedom of Information requests, they would’ve learned the truth:

✅ Delgado’s petition came directly from Working Families Party members exercising their legal right to ballot.

✅ Her petitions were circulated and filed by actual WFP members — grassroots, transparent, and legitimate.

✅. Delgado has NEVER been a registered Republican. Her record shows she’s been a Democrat (1984–2016), Women’s Equality Party member (2016), Democrat again (2020), and a Working Families Party member since 2021.

Meanwhile, her Democrat opponent, Cooper Macco, filed petitions circulated, witnessed, and notarized by top Democrat insiders — Huntington Town Democrat Leader Jill Kaufman, Democrat Larry Silverman, Democrat operative Keith Davies as their agent, and even Democrat Legislator Rebecca Sanin’s husband, Jairo.

“Delgado’s candidacy was never objected to by Suffolk or Huntington Democrats and was verified multiple times:

  • She met the signature threshold

  • Received official correspondence from the local Board of Elections

  • Appeared on the ballot, voted in the primary, and won the primary election.

“What Newsday printed on November 8th wasn’t journalism — it was propaganda, tailor-made to protect a failing political machine. They twisted a legitimate, grassroots victory into a tabloid hit piece designed to make the losing Democrat look like a victim.

“Here’s what actually happened: Voters of a minor party chose Maria Delgado — twice — in the primary and again in the general election. That’s what elections are all about — choice.

“The only person owed an apology here is Maria Delgado — and the voters whose voices were undermined by biased reporting.

“Newsday’s negligence is a direct threat to the region’s trust in fair elections and honest reporting. We again urge all readers to cancel their subscriptions. The people of Suffolk County deserve truth — not Democrat talking points dressed up as news.

“This was political noise, sloppy reporting, selective outrage, and sour grapes — plain and simple.

“The only way for Newsday’s staff and leadership to stop their biased reporting is for consumers to act:

CANCEL YOUR NEWSDAY SUBSCRIPTION immediately.”

Newsday Attacks Charlie Kirk

Statement From Suffolk County Republican Party Chairman Jesse Garcia:

Decency Prevails Over Wrong; Newsday Pulls Controversial Charlie Kirk Cartoon, Apologizes to Kirk Family and Readers

"On Saturday, we witnessed a shocking failure of judgment when Newsday published a cartoon mocking the political assassination of Charlie Kirk. It was a moment that brought pain, anger, and rightful outrage—not just to conservatives, but to anyone who values decency in public life.

"Today, a little more than 19 hours after the statement from our Suffolk GOP condemning this disgraceful political cartoon, Newsday has publicly acknowledged its mistake, apologized to the Kirk family, its readers, and the broader public, and removed the cartoon from its platforms.

"On behalf of the Suffolk County and Brookhaven Republican Committees, I accept this apology. We recognize that owning up to such an egregious error is not easy, and we hope this moment serves as a reminder to every newsroom in America that words and images matter.

"Charlie Kirk was a man of faith, family, and country. His tragic loss should never be trivialized. Political violence has no place in our society — neither in reality nor in satire.

"As leaders, neighbors, and fellow Americans, we must reject rhetoric and imagery that inflame division and instead find ways to honor Charlie’s legacy by fostering real dialogue and understanding.

"Let this be an example of a course correction. We cannot bring Charlie back, but we can commit ourselves to ensuring his tragic and senseless death is not used as fuel for more hate. We can, and must, choose unity over violence, civility over cruelty, and respect over mockery.

"Our nation is stronger when we remember that despite our differences, we are all Americans.

"That is the only way forward."
