State Senate candidates call for bold property tax relief for Suffolk County homeowners

Assemblyman Anthony Palumbo, who is running for state Senate in the 1st District, and Alexis Weik, candidate for Senate in District 3, today united to call for New York State to fully restore the popular, essential STAR property tax rebate check program. Last year, Senate Democrats eliminated the checks, and Suffolk County homeowners have felt the sting.

A never-seen alliance of law enforcement organizations, representing more than 400 police agencies from across New York State—from Suffolk County to cities, towns, and villages along the Canadian border—has joined to urge voters to support Alexis Weik for Senate and stop the radical pro-criminal and anti-police agenda that has resulted in a shocking increase in crime and violence in communities everywhere.

Alexis Weik, Republican-Conservative candidate for the State Senate’s 3rd District, today was endorsed by the Detectives Endowment Association, representing 19,000 current and retired NYPD detectives.

The endorsement adds to a growing list of support by law enforcement for Weik, the wife, and mother of police officers, who have now gained endorsements by members of seven police agencies.

“Suffolk County is using your tax dollars to pay someone to campaign for a political candidate. This is wrong on so many levels. At best, it is an abuse of academic power by a professor of the students who are at her mercy for a grade. At worst it is a public servant blatantly violating the County Ethics law prohibiting the campaigning or coercing others to participate in a political campaign.
