Meet Rudy Sunderman

Rudy Sunderman is a lifelong resident of Mastic and a William Floyd graduate. Married to his Wife Laura for 26 years and has four children Jennifer and Megan who both will be graduating from LIU in May, Rudy who graduated from William Floyd and is in the process of starting a small business, and Katie who is in 7th grade and a competitive dancer. His daughter Jen recently married her husband Anthony and is purchasing a home in Mastic.

Rudy has spent his entire life helping his community; starting in the fire service as a junior member rising up to Chief of the Department; also formerly served as Chief of Mastic Volunteer Ambulance. Rudy served two terms as fire commissioner elected by the residents of the district. He is employed as manager of the Centereach Fire District and is formerly a District Manager for CVS.

His community is where he wants to watch his children and grandchildren remain. Unfortunately record numbers of young people are leaving that will not stop unless things change. Rudy wants to ensure the future by stopping the residents from being taxed out of their homes.

He has worked in both the public and private sector and understands the balance necessary between business and government. He knows what it takes to balance budgets and make government work.

In his time as fire commissioner Rudy lowered taxes by 20% and as the fire district manager, he received an outstanding comptroller’s audit report noting compliance and sound fiscal management.

Rudy will work for you because he is you. He’s your neighbor, the person who comes when you have an emergency. He will respond to the district as legislator with the same vim that he responds when you call him at 2 a.m. There is an emergency in the county, one that needs someone who will be unafraid to stop the bleeding of the taxpayer.
